Gastric Cancer Awareness: Updates and Advances Date: Fri, Nov 8th, 2024 Time: 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm Location: Lang Auditorium
Statement of Need:
Gastric cancer is a significant global health concern, ranking as the fifth most common cancer, and the third leading cause of cancer-related death. Despite advances in medical research and treatment options, the mortality rate associated with stomach cancer is still alarmingly high, highlighting the necessity for improved screening and greater public awareness to detect and treat this disease at earlier stages. To improve survival rates and quality of life for patients with gastric cancer, care should involve a multidisciplinary team. This team should include surgeons, gastroenterologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, genetic counselor, oncology navigator, oncology nutritionist, physical therapists, and other specialists renowned for providing leading medical, surgical, and supportive care for patients with gastric cancer. Our panel discussion will feature our multidisciplinary care team that will engage attendees in a discussion on gastric cancer and the latest advancements in its treatment.
