2026 Stroke & Neurocritical Care Conference
Date: Wed, May 20th, 2026
Time: 9:00 am - 6:30 pm
Location: Lang Auditorium
Statement of Need:
Stroke remains a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the US, particularly among the aging population. Rapid advances in diagnostic technologies, acute interventions, and neurocritical care management—Along with emerging clinical trial data—continue to change evidence-based approaches to stroke care. These advancements have created gaps in clinician knowledge and practice related to optimal stroke diagnosis, treatment selection, and interdisciplinary management in acute and neuro ICU settings. This educational activity is designed to address these gaps by providing up-to-date, evidence-based education on stroke and neurocritical care, enabling healthcare professionals to improve clinical decision-making, care-coordination, and patient outcomes.
This educational program will cover critical topics including: • Guidelines and Updates for Acute Stroke Management • Controversial and Innovations in Managing Critically ill Patients • Surgical and Endovascular Procedures for Critically-ill Patients • The Essential Role of EMS, Nursing and Rehabilitation in Management of Stroke Patients
Target Audience:
Primary care physicians, neurologists, ER physicians, residents, fellows, interns, medical students, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, EMS, physical & occupational therapists/assistants and others caring for patients with neurological conditions.

It is intended that this NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Continuing Medical Education activity will lead to improved patient care. At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
• Apply current evidence-based guidelines and recent clinical trial data to optimize the diagnosis and acute management of stroke patients.
• Identify best practices and management strategies for critically-ill neurological patients, including severe traumatic brain injury, neuroprognostication, and neurocritical care principles relevant to non-intensivist clinicians.
• Compare medical, surgical and endovascular treatment options for cerebrovascular disease and intracranial pathology, and integrate innovative neurosurgical and interventional approaches into patient-centered care plans.
• Demonstrate effective interdisciplinary collaboration among EMS, emergency department staff, nursing, rehabilitation teams and stroke centers to improve care coordination, streamline transitions of care, and enhance post-stroke recovery outcome.
