Title: 12th Annual Neonatal Symposium: Improving Care and Outcomes for the High-Risk Preterm Infant

Statement of Need:
An extremely low birth weight baby (ELBW) born very prematurely and weighing between 401 and 1000 grams at birth is at the lower limits of viability. Diagnosis and treatment remain very difficult and challenging. Providers require updates on current recommendations and advances in management in order to further optimal patient outcomes. This 12th Annual NewYork-Presbyterian Queens Department of Pediatrics Neonatal Symposium will present new recommendations for stabilization of the ELBW infant in the delivery room, genetic causes of birth defects, evidence-based medicine contributing to standards of care, management of necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC), and considerations surrounding the use of donor milk in the Neonatal ICU. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with leaders in newborn medicine and to review current and important neonatal and perinatal topics of interest.
